Heaven will wait .jpg

Heaven will wait (Belgium) by Silver Tjepkema

Heaven will wait is a hybrid documentary following a group of young women as they navigate the thin line between desire and fear. On the surface they appear assertive and untouchable, using their sexuality with confidence: being provocative and testing boundaries. Yet beneath that bravado, something stirs. The film explores the paradox of sexual autonomy and objectification: the characters are aware of the gaze that sexualizes them, yet still long for the validation this offers. Questions arise around self-image, control, and the normalization of trauma. Heaven will wait portrays the constant dance between desire and self-protection, where intimacy can be both a weapon and a wound. At the same time, the film is an ode to female friendship: an intimate space where you can get lost without losing yourself, and where you don’t need words to be understood.
